So with it being the beginning of a new month and passing the 1/2 way mark of 2011, I thought I would start bookmarking small, but attainble goals for each month here on out {or until I get tired of this "new me"}. I think setting goals is important--to keep yourself accountable, but not setting them too high because failing just doesn't seem like all that much fun to me...I wanted to see how I am progressing this year based on my overall 2011 resolutions, which I posted here. So, how is my progress?
1. Master Copperplate Calligraphy--I got back on this when I addressed my invitations, though I would have to say this has been an epic fail...blame it on there only being 24 hours in a day
2. Complete Another 1/2 Marathon--I intended on doing the Women's Half in October, though with 90+ degree days with no end in sight, training outside could be tricky with dealing with my asthma and such...this could be pushed back a bit
3. Save More $$$--SUCCESS! We were able to pay cash for our portion of the wedding festivities and as of last week, our credit cards have a zero balance...music to my ears!
4. Read More Books--another positive check! I have read 6 this year, and am now reading my 7th...Beach Music by Pat Controy which is my Dad's all-time favorite book.
5. Learn to Use My Canon SLR Camera--ummm, negative. I can shoot and take pictures, but that's about it. Still need to take a class for this.
6. Finish Decorating the House--work in progress. Once all wedding gifts are catalogued and put away, I can get back to it. This weekend we have some decorating to do so I'm pumped to get moving.
7. Talk Time for Friends/Family--ehhh, this is in the middle. Yes, I am trying to "talk" rather than text and email so much, but it is a goal I have to constantly remind myself of.
With that, here are my small goals for July:
A. Workout at least 3 days a week...this is normal for me, but I want to keep at it--finally happy with my progress and overall tone, so maintaining should be simpler
B. Eating healthy... Continue to eat fresh fruits and veggies every day. It is so much easier to find fresh and not so costly produce during the summer, so out with the ice cream and processed foods, and in with fruit and stocking up on greens.
C. Church time...We've been so consumed with out-of-town weekends recently that we haven't been good churchgoers like we should be. I find myself to be so much more balanced and less stressed once I have more quality time with God so we're ready to get back into workship. Being back at our church last week felt great!
D. Finish thank-you notes...I know, etiquette says you have 3 months to get these sent out, but I want to get these done ASAP. Trying to do 5 a day so my goal is by July 11th
{1 month after the wedding} I will have these complete.
What goals do you or did you set for yourself this year, month, week, etc?? Never to late to make a list--so helpful for maximizing every hour of every day!
Happy 4th of July friends...hope you all have a great weekend--complete with fun in the sun, lots of sparklers and fireworks, festive cookout celebrations, and remembering just how lucky all of us are to be in a free country--prayers to all those men and women fighting for our independence, too...we are EVER grateful!
